Personal Attendant Services (PAS)
Primary Home Care and Community Attendant Services provide non-technical attendant services to eligible individuals who have a medical condition resulting in a functional limitation in performing personal care. Attendants help individuals with activities of daily living, such as bathing, grooming, meal preparation and housekeeping.
Attendants are trained and supervised by non-medical personnel.
STAR + PLUS
STAR+PLUS is a Texas Medicaid managed care program designed for adults who have disabilities or are 65 or older. It provides access to both basic healthcare and long-term services and support, such as assistance with daily living activities and home modifications. The program aims to help individuals receive care in the community rather than in institutional settings like nursing homes.
Protective Supervision
Protective supervision aims to enhance the individual’s quality of life while ensuring their safety by mitigating risks associated with cognitive or physical limitations. It involves observing the individual to prevent them from engaging in dangerous activities, such as wandering, operating appliances unsafely, or falling.
STAR Kids
STAR Kids is a Texas Medicaid managed care program designed to provide comprehensive healthcare services to children and adults under 21 who have disabilities. This program allows eligible individuals to receive both their basic medical care and long-term services and supports through a single managed care organization (MCO), which is a chosen health plan.
Respite
Respite care is a program to give temporary relief for primary caregivers who are caring for individuals unable to care for themselves due to disability or illness. This allows them to care for their own physical and emotional health while ensuring their loved ones receive safe and appropriate care.
